The Readers, Reading Workbooks, and Teacher's Manual compose Grade 3 of the Bible Nurture and Reader Series. There are 5 units with 30 lessons in each unit, making a total of 150 lessons. All the lessons are based on Bible stories.

Exploring Arithmetic has 170 lessons. It reviews addition and subtraction skills from Grades 1 and 2 and teaches multiplication and division facts through table 9 and simple two- and three-step multiplication and division. Other concepts drilled are fraction meaning, measure equivalents, money values, and telling time. Mixed computation and Roman numerals are introduced. Continuous review is built into the lessons, and simple reading problems are practiced frequently.

Grade 3 English teaches that understanding sentence type and structure is basic to writing sentences, and then paragraphs and stories. Sentence parts are studied, and some simple diagramming. Nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs and their correct usage are exercised. Dictionary work, capitalization and punctuation, proofreading, and communication skills round out this English course.

The penmanship course in Grade 3 is composed of 60 lessons in one workbook with tearout pages, and a 149-page teacher's guide that shows a reduced pupil's page and gives detailed teaching instructions for each lesson.

The 71-page Grade 3 spelling workbook offers exercises for 13 new words and 3 review words in each of the 34 weekly lessons except every sixth lesson, which is completely review. (After Grade 2, each book in the Spelling by Sound and Structure series reviews from the previous book.)

Thirty-six perforated worksheets in Beginning in Music Three prepare the pupils for Growing in Music, Book One (Grades 4 and 5). Note shapes, note values, and rests are reviewed. Various musical terms such as the scale, the staff, lines, spaces, and measures are taught in a simple manner. The last nine lessons introduce accidentals.

God's Protected World is a 216-page hardcover textbook that consists of 39 lessons in 7 units with 4-8 lessons per unit, plus a review lesson for each unit. Many illustrations and photographs help to convey the interesting lessons. Such subjects as water, useful materials, seasons, the heavenly bodies, rainbows, heat and cold, caring for our bodies, different types of animals, machines, and stewardship are introduced on the child's level. Through this study, pupils gain an enjoyment and appreciation of nature and recognize God as the Creator.

Understanding Our Community gives the student an introduction to the community and shows how various organizations and public services operate. The goal is to foster an appreciation for the services offered and to help the student to act responsibly. Most lessons are presented in story form so that the student learns through the eyes of the main character as he observes his community. The pupil's book has color pictures where color is important.

Art With a Purpose has simple step-by-step art lessons for children in Grade 3. You will need an Artpac for each child. Each pupil's Artpac is a complete unit, containing 38 lessons with art sheets, a few pages of instructions for the teacher, examples, and lists of materials needed. It's all ready to go. You don't need to be an accomplished artist to teach it. This well-planned course includes exercises in coloring, shading with crayons, simple grid drawing, painting, cutting stencils, making greeting cards and booklets, and doing freehand drawing.
