The 60 lessons in A Time to Plant contain forty prose works, fifteen poems, and five composition themes..

The Bible is the pupil's textbook. The pupil's workbook for God Chooses a Family is designed to be consumable, but it may be reused if the students write their answers on paper. The workbook follows a chronological sequence through the first half of the Old Testament (Creation to the prophet Samuel). The course has thirty lessons divided into six chapters. Each chapter has five lessons and a review. A chapter is intended to provide work for six weeks. There is a final review for the course before the final test is given.

Gaining Skill with Arithmetic has 170 lessons (counting tests), most being two pages long. Lesson concepts are clearly explained to the student. This book continues to review the basic facts of the four number processes. It reviews two-digit multipliers, the long division process, measures, large numbers, fractions, and decimals. Other important areas of study are the introduction of two-digit divisors, three-digit multipliers, multiplication and division with decimals and fractions, ratios, geometry, square measure, graphs, and scale drawings. Reading problems are exercised regularly.

Following the Plan has 119 lessons divided into 10 chapters. Interwoven throughout the book are lessons on oral and written composition, each marked by a design along the margin. This course is designed to provide sufficient drill and review of all the English concepts taught. Continuous review is built into the lessons. The course is designed for approximately 120 minutes of class time per week.

The Grade 5 spelling workbook is composed of 34 weekly lessons including a review lesson every six weeks. Bound with a tough, soft cover, it can be used as a text or as a consumable workbook. It contains many well-illustrated pages. Each lesson includes a list of twenty words. Sixteen of these are called "New Words" and four are "Review Words." The Review Words are selected from Grade 4 spelling lists or from earlier lessons in this book. Each review lesson introduces no new words, but reviews the 80 new words of the previous 5 lessons.

Growing in Music can be used in Grade 4 also, or a combination of Grades 4 and 5. Although this textbook assumes that the pupil can recognize characters such as notes, rests, and clef signatures, the six chapters cover the simplest elements of music and can be used for those who have had no previous instruction.

God's Wonderful World contains 40 regular lessons and 8 review lessons. All regular lessons also include a short review exercise. A few reviews draw from previous units. God's Marvelous Works, Book 1 is a nature series designed to open both the eye and the mind. Plants and animals surround us, yet often we are unseeing and unthankful.

Homelands of North America gives Grade 5 pupils a glimpse of the geography, history, and economics of the United States and Canada. There are 78 lessons including the reviews at the end of each chapter.

This book contains many maps, illustrations, and photographs. "Study Exercises" provide a basic review for each lesson. The classes that have more time or the students who ne d extra work will find extra material in "Further Study." These questions are often excellent for class discussion.
